The Kanika boat at sunset

Phnom Penh’s only luxury floating catamaran cruise boat, the Kanika, will begin daily Lunchtime, Sunset and Dinner cruises at the beginning of February. The lunchtime set meal and cruise with a duration of just over an hour is a new innovation from the Kanika crew, whilst their sunset cruise will take passengers along the Mekong and Tonle Sap Rivers for a glorious view over the city skyline. Their signature dinner cruises, with a four-course meal, will last at least an hour and a half. With very reasonable prices, excellent food and a well-stocked bar on board the safest boat on the river, the Kanika is a great way to experience a quieter and relaxing side to Cambodia’s bustling capital city. The Kanika can accommodate up to 90 people and is also available for private charter. For more details, please contact the Hanuman sales team.

In a  few months, the same company will be launching a traditional style wooden cruise boat, with eight cabins, that will take passengers from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh on a 3 day, 2 night cruise and beyond. Watch this space.

The Hanuman booth at the 3-day Travex exhibition at ATF

Phnom Penh was a hive of activity for all of last week as Cambodia hosted the 30th anniversary ASEAN Tourism Forum at the Koh Pich Convention Center. The central theme was the 3-day buyers and sellers trade exhibition, where tourism professionals from around the globe came to talk to travel agencies, hotels and service providers from the 10 Asean-member countries. Over 430 companies exhibited at the Travex exhibition, the event attracted buyers from 54 countries, media from 32 countries and was the biggest tourism trade event in Cambodia for many years. Hanuman was represented by Managing Director Tan Sotho, Executive Director Kulikar Sotho and Company Advisor Nick Ray and enjoyed meeting a host of potential new partners from around the globe, as well as renewing acquaintances with old friends as well. The extravagant opening ceremony welcomed Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen as it’s chief guest as well as tourism ministers from all the member countries. Other events and activities filled the remainder of the week before the ATF 2011 came to a close on Friday with a gala dinner and fashion show at NagaWorld. A unanimous thumbs up from the participants confirmed that the whole event was a major success.
