Preah Vihear Museum on display

Preah Vihear Eco-Global Museum

Tomorrow, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen will officially open the brand new Preah Vihear Eco-Global Museum, located in the town of Sraem, some 23kms from the Preah Vihear mountain-top UNESCO-recognised temple.

The Eco-Global Museum reflects on the ancient Khmer civilization and the life of the local ethnic Kuay communities and the rich diversity of their natural environment. The museum displays in four different rooms, archaeological collections from the famous Temple of Preah Vihear and its wider network of related monuments in the province, exceptional and sometimes endangered flora and fauna, and objects, which illustrate the livelihood of local communities, both Khmer and Kuay. Pictured is Phoeurng Sackona, the country’s Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, who recently visited the museum.
